Bayou City Energy Management LLC launched its first private equity fund, the company said July 23.

Bayou City’s privately negotiated equity investments for the North American E&P sector range between $5 million and $50 million.

William McMullen, founding partner, and partner Mark Stoner, lead the company and are supported by Kristin Eby MacKelvey, CFO, and Andrew Koehler, senior associate. McMullen previously worked for White Deer Energy and Denham Capital. Stoner was previously the vice president of finance at Alta Mesa Holdings LP.

McMullen said Bayou City's first acquisition closed on June 15.

An advisory board includes Charles Cherington, co-founder and managing partner of Intervale Capital; Gregory Beard, head of natural resources and senior partner at Apollo Global Management; Alan Clemens, technical adviser to Quantum Energy Partners and chairman of Rio Oil & Gas II LLC; and Thomas Perich, chairman of Andrews Kurth LLP.

Additional members will be added to the advisory board, the company said.
