Chesapeake Acquires Barnett Assets From Harding Energy

October 3, 2008

Dallas-based Harding Energy Partners LLC has acquired all core Barnett shale assets held by Texas-based DDJet Ltd. LLP and has sold these holdings to Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, (NYSE: CHK) for an undisclosed price.

Harding did not describe the assets sold to Chesapeake. ExxonMobil Corp. subsidiary Metroplex Barnett Shale LLC was the operator for DDJet, the partnership that was established in late 2006 for development of natural gas production in Tarrant, Johnson, Ellis, Dallas, Denton, Navarro, Collin and Hill counties.

Harding will now focus on developing its 146,000 net acres in the James Lime and 65,000 net acres in the Haynesville shale, both in East Texas. The company is also exploring the 50,000 acres it controls in southeastern Mississippi and a lease position in West Texas. SJP
