Editor-in-Chief
Leslie Haines began her journalism career in 1980 in Williston, North Dakota, at the Williston Daily Herald . She became the energy and business reporter for the Midland Reporter-Telegram in Midland, Texas, in 1982 and 1983. She joined Hart Energy Publishing in Denver in late 1983 as a copy editor. Soon thereafter she began writing for Western Oil and Gas World . In 1985, she joined the staff of Oil and Gas Investor magazine. She was named managing editor two years later and became editor in January 1992. In November 1992, at its annual meeting in Reno, the IPAA awarded Leslie with the 2nd Annual Lloyd Unsell Award for Excellence in Petroleum Journalism. She is a 1974 honors graduate of Keene State College in her native New Hampshire.

Executive Editor
Nissa Darbonne joined Hart in the spring of 1998. She previously was business editor of The Daily Advertiser newspaper in oil country in Lafayette, Louisiana, and was a business writer and a government reporter with the newspaper since 1989. While an English and journalism student at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Nissa was a general news and features editor and writer with the student newspaper, The Vermilion , and, later, a Lafayette government correspondent and general interest writer for Baton Rouge's The Morning Advocate . She won Louisiana Press Association and other recognition for investigative reporting. She received her bachelor of arts degree from UL-Lafayette.

Senior Financial Editor
Brian Toal joined Hart Energy Publishing in 1985. He primarily focuses on developing financial features, capitalizing on contacts with the investment banking and lending communities on Wall Street and in Canada. Toal graduated from Fordham University with a BA in English and philosophy. After serving as a U.S. Army correspondent in Korea, he joined the ABC TV network in New York City in 1964. There, he handled regional planning of network sales, developed the co-op sales program for ABC Sports, inaugurated the sale of the network¹s closed circuit news syndication service, and was in charge of the clearance of all network news programming and specials. In 1967, he became a publications writer for Shell Oil Co., later becoming public relations representative for the southeastern E&P region in New Orleans.

Senior Exploration Editor
Peggy Williams , a certified petroleum geologist, has 16 years of industry experience in oil and gas exploration and production. Peggy joined Hart Energy Publishing in 1992; she holds a Bachelor¹s in Geology from the University of Rhode Island, a Master¹s in Energy Resources from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master of Science in Technical Communications from the University of Colorado. Peggy is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and has served in several capacities with that organization and its local affiliate, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. She also served as Managing Editor for The Mountain Geologist , a quarterly scientific journal published by the RMAG, from 1993-2000.

Photo Editor
Lowell Georgia was a co-founder and part owner of Oil and Gas Investor in 1981, and has shot all but three of its cover stories. Georgia spent two years in Washington, D.C., as a National Geographic Society staff picture editor followed by 20 years of photographic assignments for the Society in various parts of the world. He has won numerous awards for his photographs including the National Press Photographer Association¹s Photographer of the Year. In addition to his involvement with Hart, Georgia¹s work continues to be published in other international publications.
