On July 26, The American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) said it inducted members of the 2016-2017 AAPL executive committee at its 62nd annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., in June. The seven-member executive committee has more than 200 years of combined leadership experience within AAPL, the industry and communities.

President Pamela D. Feist, certified professional landman (CPL), is the land manager of Lakewood Exploration and vice president of Lakewood Operating Ltd. in Midland, Texas. A 2013 recipient of the “Best Landman” award from the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), Feist has nearly 40 years of oil and gas industry experience and is the first female president of AAPL. Feist also chairs AAPL’s strategic planning and finance committees and serves on the NAPE management and operators committees.

First Vice President David W. Miller, CPL, is the owner and managing member of Miller Land Professionals LLC in Jackson, Miss. With more than 40 years of energy industry experience, Miller has been president of the Mississippi Association of Petroleum Landmen (MAPL) and was MAPL’s Landman of the Year in 2001. Nationally, Miller currently serves on AAPL’s financial advisory council and tax issues committee, and on the AAPL Education Foundation’s board of directors.

Second Vice President Jeff Niemeyer, CPL, is the regional project adviser for Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s (NYSE: APC) Northern Division land department in Denver. He has worked at Anadarko for the last 16 years of his career, which is nearly 40 years. Previously, he managed Anadarko’s Powder River Basin land department. He joined AAPL in 1978.

Third Vice President Trinidad Hernandez, CPL, is an independent field landman based in San Antonio with nearly 20 years of industry experience, Hernandez is a past chairman for the AAPL accreditation committee and currently serves on the education committee. Hernandez was president of the San Antonio Association of Professional Landmen (SAPL) in 2012 and currently represents SAPL as the Region IV director on the AAPL board.

Treasurer Jim Bourbeau, CPL, is president and owner of Jim Bourbeau Land Service Inc. and Surfside Abstracting Inc. in Conneaut Lake, Pa. A landman since 1978, Bourbeau is a founding member and former past president of the Northern Appalachian Landman’s Association in Pennsylvania. He is currently the assistant chairman on the AAPL industry/public relations committee.

Secretary W. Russell Shaw, CPL, is vice president of Dudley Land Co. in Oklahoma City. Shaw has more than 25 years of industry experience, and currently serves on the AAPL certification committee and on the board for the Rocky Mountain Legal Foundation.

Immediate Past President Marc R. Strahn, CPL, is president of The Wolf Haven Corp. and High Story Ventures Inc. in Story, Wyo. Strahn has nearly 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has worked as a landman in the northern Rockies and nationally. He is a member and speaker for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and serves on the University Of Wyoming’s School Of Energy Resources’ external advisory committee.
