Dayton, Texas-based Global Tubing has named H. B. “Bernie” Luft senior technical consultant. He has oil and gas engineering experience with emphasis on coiled tubing research, engineering and applications.

Global Tubing chairman and chief executive C. Robert Bunch says, “We are very pleased to have Dr. Luft join our team. He brings us additional experience in coiled tubing materials science and performance, including welding engineering, fatigue research, spooling technology and much more.”

Luft innovations in the coiled-tubing industry include development and commissioning of a insulated concentric coiled tubing steam-injection string for thermal enhanced oil production and in-situ heavy oil production involving steam-assisted gravity-drainage (SAGD) processes; and research into the low-cycle fatigue, tensile strength and material response of coiled tubing  in wet hydrogen sulphide sour oil and gas reservoirs.
