Texas Sees Drilling, Production, Employment Increase In January

The Railroad Commission of Texas granted nearly 2,000 drilling permits to Texas producers in January, achieving a modern-day record for the first month of the year, the Texas Petro Index (TPI) announced.

Crude oil production and an increase in employment, along with the drilling permit rise, were key factors that led a turnaround in the Texas Petro Index, and restored some momentum to oil and gas exploration and development in the state that had waned in second-half 2012.
