John has over 28 years of professional experience in the energy and insurance industries. John’s experience is broad and all-encompassing for the energy industry.

John’s creation of an aggressive sales culture at EnRisk has lead to an increased annual revenue of more than 3 times our 2004 level. Since joining EnRisk, two additional offices have been opened. EnRisk now has a presence in both Denver and Houston.

John’s experience is unique to the insurance brokerage business. With 10 years experience in the energy industry and 15 years in energy insurance, John’s specialized blend of experience allows him to match the insurance aspect of any risk with the art of risk management in the business. Prior to becoming a Principal/CEO at EnRisk, John held a position in a large regional insurance brokerage firm as the Vice President of the energy practice. Earlier, John established his foundation in the energy world as a broker for a multi-national insurance brokerage firm, a risk manager for a large Exploration and Production company, and an operations analyst for a large public utility that operated gas processing and transmission assets. He has also spent time working at the field level for a health and safety consulting firm working with workover, drilling and gas processing exposures.

John has published several articles on risk management in the Oil and Gas Investor and other trade magazines. John also has spoken before many financial and risk managements groups. John earned a degree in Finance from Regis University.

Brian Krause, Vice President - Global Practice Leader, Travelers Oil & Gas

In this role, Brian provides 24/7 emergency response services on oil and gas well fires and blowouts, conducts loss prevention training and has developed a comprehensive emergency response and disaster recovery plan. Travelers Oil & Gas is a leading provider of quality oil and gas products and services designed for a diverse range of customers of all sizes, including both onshore and offshore operations with a focus on exploration and production.

Before joining Travelers, Krause spent more than 25 years in the industry on the front lines putting out dangerous well fires. Krause served as a consultant to the U.S. military in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Desert Storm, playing an instrumental role in getting hundreds of well fires under control in Kuwait and Iraq. Krause has extensive experience with blowouts all over the world, including major incidents in Midland, Texas, Northern Wyoming, India, Hungary, the North Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Krause started his career with the Red Adair Company as a blowout specialist and then spent several years at Boots & Coots, as president and senior well control specialist.

Krause attended Southwest Texas State University and the University of Houston, as well as the Baroid Drilling School. He is Well Control Certified, H2S Certified, and CPR & First Aid Certified.
