Natural Gas Rises On Stockpile Decline Speculation

Natural gas rose from a one-week low in New York on speculation that a government report will show a bigger-than-average stockpile decline, Bloomberg reported Dec. 26.

Gas advanced as much as 1.1 percent, reversing an earlier drop, as forecasts showed U.S. inventories probably fell by 177 billion cubic feet (Bcf) last week, based on 10 estimates compiled by Bloomberg. The five-year average is a decline of 125 billion. Temperatures in parts of the Northeast and Midwest were below normal for most of the period, according to AccuWeather Inc.
